Yoga Retreats

Do Ngak Kunphen Ling regularly hosts yoga retreats led by teachers practicing in the Iyengar tradition. Founded by B.K.S. Iyengar about seventy years ago, this method of yoga is known for its precision and effectiveness. Iyengar-certified instructors are rigorously trained and safely guide their students in the practice of yoga as a means to develop strength, flexibility, stamina, concentration, and mental stability through body alignment. For more information on Iyengar yoga, visit the Iyengar Yoga Association of Greater New York.

Yoga retreats at DNKL begin at 7 pm on Friday evenings (open practice and a light supper). Saturday starts with a morning meditation and a two-hour yoga class followed by lunch. After lunch there is plenty of time to relax and explore the 100-acre property. Restorative practice with pranayama in the late afternoon is followed by dinner and meditation. Sunday starts with meditation and a two-and-a-half-hour yoga class. The retreat comes to a close after lunch.

The retreat cost is $230, which includes basic accommodations at the Center (limited to 16 students) and simple vegetarian meals. Transportation from the train station is generally provided. Be sure to call ahead to arrange pickups (203/938-2330). To register for retreats, contact yoga@dnkldharma.org.
